Department 56 began in 1976 with six hand-painted, lighted ceramic buildings that became the foundation of The Original Snow Village. From this first collection, the American brand grew into a well-known name among collectors and enthusiasts of miniature Christmas villages.
The Village collections are known for their lighted buildings, which can be combined with village figurines and accessories to create an entire miniature world. New pieces can be added over time, while selected designs are eventually retired from production, making collecting and expanding a Department 56 village part of its appeal.

Disney Village by Department 56 combines the tradition of a Christmas village with the world of Disney. Designs include Mickey’s Gingerbread House, Mickey Train Station, Minnie’s House and colourful shops filled with festive Disney details.
The different buildings and figurines form Mickey’s Merry Christmas Village and can be collected individually or combined to create a larger Disney Christmas Village. They also work beautifully alongside other Disney Christmas decorations, including Disney Traditions by Jim Shore.
Disney Village isn’t limited to Christmas. In Mickey’s Pumpkintown, Christmas colours make way for pumpkins, Halloween costumes and playful spooky details.
